Job Purpose

Responsible for the management of the acquisition of goods and services for assigned category and ensuring that processes and tools are in place and optimized to achieve the best possible outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Governance

  • Consistency in adherence to and application of established policies, processes and tools to achieve optimal efficiency, compliance and cost containment for all sourcing related activities.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory legislation as applies to supply chain management.
  • Maintain an audit ready environment for both internal and external audits.
  • Develop and maintain Business Continuity, Risk, and Compliance Management & Regulatory Controls for the Category
  • Ensure compliance to the SLA and KPIs by both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and promote sustainability initiatives in line with the Banks' Vision.

Supply Chain Management Financials

  • Develop, implement and manage the annual Category Strategy and Plan, Consolidation of Requirements, Timing and Sourcing Methods.
  • Develop and implement cost reduction initiatives. Ensure adherence to the approved budgets.
  • Implement Cost Management Programs/Initiatives for Category during the business cycle.
  • Develop and maintain professional business relations with key external and internal stakeholders. Identify needs, reduce unwanted product and service demand. Ensure to accomplish category procurement business goals and objectives.
  • Creates various types of contracts or agreements that can be used to accomplish the bank’s commercial technical goals Supplier Relationship Management Liaise with Finance to ensure timely payments of Effective follow up liaison with vendors for timely availability of material.
  • Ensure engagement of main stakeholders early for strategic sourcing process. Perform activities steadily maintaining objective and transparent approach every time. Coordinate and head enterprise broad standards and parameters settings.
  • Conduct commercial negotiations for all tenders to achieve value for money outcomes.

Supply Chain Contracts

  • Works with various stakeholders to ensure contracts execution/renewal program at least three (3) months before expiry and minimize delays in execution/renewals.
  • Procurement, negotiation and management of all bank contracts and service level agreements.
  • Undertake timely review of Contracts with Legal Department before execution
  • Monitor and manage all supply chain contracts

Supply Chain Management Reporting/Internal Processes

  • Ensure Compliance to the laid downturn around Times for all sourcing activities.
  • Maintain an up-to-date Contracts database. Ensure contract renewals are undertaken on time preferably 3 months before expiry.
  • Keep abreast with latest market trends and developments as relates to supply chain management.
  • Undertaking market research / intelligence in supply chain management.
  • Analysis of supply chain spend.
  • Identification of internal and external cost drivers in the category.

Stakeholder Engagement (Supply performance; Customer satisfaction)

  • Manages preparation of all supply chain related correspondence, including supplier performance communication.
  • Schedules stakeholder trainings and engagements regularly.
  • Enhance internal and external customer relationship and ensure the customer is satisfied with our support.
  • Monitor the performance of suppliers and take corrective actions where necessary.
  • Manage and mitigate associated risks to enable the organization to meet its obligations and maximize business opportunity.
  • Promote positive Net promoter score.
  • Engage stakeholders to ensure 100% compliance to procurement policy and procedures

Qualifications

  • Academic Qualification: A university degree in Supply Chain or business-related field. A master’s degree is an added advantage.

Professional Qualification: Member of KISM/ CIPS

  • Desired work experience: At least five (5) years’ experience in a similar role in medium or large size organization.

Technical Competencies:

  • Technical skills to effectively perform supply chain management activities/tasks in a manner that consistently produces high quality service.
  • Knowledge and effective application of all relevant supply chain management regulation, processes, procedures and guidelines to consistently achieve required compliance standards or benchmarks.
  • Knowledge of category management approach to supply chain process
  • Knowledge in the use of ERP systems
  • Excellent knowledge of procurement systems or ERP and Microsoft Office is necessary.
