The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail:

  • Aligning syllabuses to assessments;
  • Developing assessment regulations and guidelines;
  • Training and recruiting setters and moderators;
  • Preparation of assessment timetables;
  • Coordinating development of assessment tools/papers;
  • Analyzing assessment test items/papers and preparing feedback reports;
  • Conducting performance appraisal of officers in the department;
  • Capacity building of teacher trainers in assessment;
  • Coordinating pre-testing of test items;
  • Preparing and implementing approved departmental work plan, procurement plan, and budget;
  • Coordinating validation of marking schemes during marking;
  • Developing and implementing effective risk management strategies;
  • Chairing Course and awards Panel meetings;
  • Ensuring security and confidentiality of all examination/assessment materials;
  • Advising the Director, Test Development on any issues relating to test development.

Person Specifications
For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

  • At least twelve 12 years cumulative relevant work experience, five 5 of which should have served at a management level;
  • Bachelor's Degree in Education from a recognized institution OR Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Education from a recognized institution;
  • Master's Degree in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution;
  • Management Course lasting not less than four 4 weeks from a recognized institution.
  • Demonstrated competence and merit in work performance;
  • Proficiency in computer applications;
  • Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution only for the successful applicants.
