Key Responsibilities:
Sponsorship:
- Facilitate the sponsorship process by identifying eligible children or families and matching them with potential sponsors.
- Serve as the main point of contact between sponsors and beneficiaries, ensuring clear and consistent communication.
- Collect and maintain accurate records of beneficiary profiles, updates, and progress reports to share with sponsors.
- Coordinate visits, meetings, or correspondence between sponsors and beneficiaries as needed.
- Monitor the proper utilization of sponsorship funds and ensure they directly support the intended beneficiaries.
- Write and deliver regular updates, including letters, photos, and reports, to keep sponsors informed and engaged.
- Conduct Home visits to assess the living conditions and needs of students and their families, ensuring compliance with program guidelines.
- Collaborate with other team members to identify areas for program improvement and address challenges as they arise.
- Provide emotional and social support to students to help them thrive within the sponsorship program.
Welfare:
- Monitor and promote the physical, mental, and emotional health of children.
- Ensure all children have the required school uniforms and make necessary updates.
- Oversee the scheduling and distribution of takeaway meals and ensure that all children have access to nutritious meals.
- Build strong relationships with parents, keeping them informed about their child’s progress.
- Conduct home visits to assess children’s living environments and provide support.
- Process applications for the next academic year and offer guidance on transitions.
- Conduct talks and guidance sessions with children to support their development.
- Coordinate activities for nurture camps and work closely with SOH boys.
- Prepare and evaluate case reports, including care plans and follow-ups for individual students.
- Assess students’ needs and devise personalized solutions.
- Refer students and families to appropriate internal and external resources healthcare, vocational training, etc..
- Collaborate with the welfare team and other departments, such Education and Pastoral Care, for comprehensive case management.
- Identify cases of child abuse and collaborate with relevant authorities for intervention.
- Advocate for children’s rights, including attending court sessions and assisting with police reports when necessary.
- Respond promptly to crises and emergencies involving students.
- Maintain accurate and confidential case files, and student records and document all relevant information and updates regarding student welfare.
- Assist in handling administrative tasks related to child welfare case management, attend meetings, and stay updated on policies related to child welfare and protection.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Social Work, Child Protection, or a related field.
- Proven experience in social work, case management, community outreach and crisis intervention.
- Strong understanding of child welfare, mental health, and family engagement.
- Knowledge of local child welfare policies and resources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with children, parents, sponsors and multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong advocacy skills, especially in child protection cases.
- Proficiency in using technology for digital data entry and basic data management tools.
- A compassionate and empathetic approach to working with vulnerable individuals and families.
- Ability to work independently and in team settings, with a strong sense of accountability and integrity.
- Proficiency in English and Kiswahili; additional local languages are an advantage.
- Willingness to travel to field locations and interact directly with communities.
- A valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
