Purpose of the Job

Coordinating and managing the sourcing of goods, works and services including management of contracts management based on the principles of value for money in line with objectives and guidelines of the university.

Required Qualifications 

  • Master’s degree in Procurement Supply Chain & Logistics management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Logistics or related business course from a recognized institution.
  • Professional qualification in procurement from KISM/CIPS or equivalent.
  • Computer literacy and good working knowledge in ERP and related computer applications.
  • Valid Practicing license from a relevant body.

Required Experience & Competencies:

  • A minimum of seven 7 years’ working experience in a senior position in procurement.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to write audit reports concisely and accurately.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Analytical skills on facts to assist in forming metrics.
  • High level of integrity.
  • Demonstratable professionalism and ability to manage stressful situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that the sourcing process is done competitively in accordance to procurement policy.
  • Managing and monitoring end-to-end tendering processes in line with strategy, policies, processes & procedures.
  • Managing contracts and procurement planning including negotiation, making recommendations and ensuring closure as per the policy.
  • Ensuring compliance with procurement procedures and standards through creating awareness to the users on the processes to be followed through open tendering and prequalification process for all goods and services used by the university.
  • Conducting market analysis for pricing, availability and quality to ensure the institution gets value for money.
  • Managing all communication in the section with both internal and external customers in all matters relating to procurement.
  • Providing secretarial services to the various procurement committees and ensuring appropriate actions and safe custody of documents.
  • Monitoring and evaluating supplier performance and providing trends and reports with recommendations for process improvement.
  • Leading the capacity building of user departments in order to ensure consistency in the application of procurement policies and procedures.
  • Coordinating disposal of fixed assets as approved by management.
  • Implementing best practices in tendering, contracting and purchasing.
  • Responsible for talent management in the function of coaching, mentoring, developing, motivating, training and evaluating staff to achieve highest level of performance.
  • Ensuring Christian behavior and appropriate behavior both internal and external in line with the institution’s Strategy.
  • Performing other duties assigned by Procurement and Contracting Manager
