General Assembly Re- Advertisment Of Returning Officer

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Returning Officer whose responsibility will be ensuring that the election in the 2025 General Assembly of FAWE Kenya is properly conducted, in accordance with the set guideline of the FAWE Kenya Constitution of the General Assembly.

Pre-Election Duties:

  • Overseeing the Nomination Process: Ensuring that nominations for candidates are received, verified, and meet the eligibility criteria.
  • Preparing Election Materials: Organizing ballot papers, voter lists, and other necessary election documents.
  • Setting Up the Voting Process: Defining election rules, timelines, and procedures in line with the organization's constitution or bylaws.
  • Educating Voters and Candidates: Clarifying the election process, rules, and expectations to avoid misunderstandings.
  • Appointing and Training Election Assistants: If necessary, select and training polling officers or assistants to help with the voting process.

During the Election:

  • Supervising the Voting Process: Ensuring that voting is conducted in a free, fair, and transparent manner.
  • Maintaining Order: Ensuring a smooth process by handling any disputes, complaints, or irregularities that may arise.
  • Ensuring Voter Confidentiality: Making sure the election is conducted via secret ballot (if required) and that voters are not influenced.
  • Counting and Verifying Votes: Tallying the votes accurately and ensuring all ballots are properly accounted for.
  • Declaring Results: Announcing the election results officially and transparently to the General Assembly.

Post-Election Duties:

  • Handling Complaints and Disputes: Addressing any challenges or concerns regarding the election results.
  • Preparing an Election Report: Documenting the election process, turnout, results, and any observations for record-keeping.
  • Handover of Office: Facilitating the transition of leadership by ensuring newly elected officials receive necessary information and documents.

Required Qualifications

  • Hold a Bachelor degree in Law from a recognized institution.
  • Must be a practicing Advocate of High Court of Kenya
  • Having an excellent understanding of corporate and contract law in general
  • Have a minimum of 5 years of corporate organization
  • Experience in electoral processes, administration, or governance is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrate high integrity
