Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement production plans and schedules to meet customer demands and delivery deadlines.
- Ensure efficient utilization of resources, including raw materials, equipment, and labor.
- Monitor and adjust production plans as needed to optimize productivity and minimize waste.
- Lead and manage production supervisors, operators, and workshop support staff with equity and fairness.
- Provide clear direction, guidance, and support to achieve production targets.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, safety, and continuous improvement.
- In liaison with the HR Lead, conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify opportunities for skill development.
- Institute and lead the quality control and assurance committee as required.
- Implement and enforce strict quality control measures throughout the production process.
- Monitor all product quality and ensure compliance with specifications, industry standards, and the organization's core values.
- Investigate and resolve any production issues or quality concerns promptly in close liaison with the Directors and key team members as may be necessary.
- Collaborate with the quality assurance team to develop and improve quality control procedures, including terms of reference from time to time as may be necessary.
- Continuously evaluate production processes, identify and recommend opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and implement strategies to increase efficiency, reduce labor and material costs, and enhance overall productivity.
- Drive Lean manufacturing principles, such as 5S, Six Sigma, and Kaizen, to optimize operations. Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure adequate and timely supply of raw materials.
- Monitor inventory levels, implement effective inventory control measures, and ensure high stock accuracy.
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of materials.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and promote a safe working environment, including the use of provided PPE.
- Conduct regular safety audits, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective actions, including root cause analysis with recommendations for all incidents and accidents.
- Provide employees with training and resources to promote safety awareness and best practices.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications and advanced degrees are an added advantage.
- At least 5 years of proven experience as a Production Manager or in a similar role within the manufacturing industry.
- Strong knowledge of wood product manufacturing processes, including machinery, assembly, finishing, and packaging.
- Familiarity with quality control standards and policies.
