Job Description

• The Principal Lecturer, KEWI 5 reports to the Senior Principal Lecturer II KEWI 4.

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail: -

• Designing and developing curriculum and training manuals;
• Reviewing teaching/learning materials and schemes of work;
• Lecturing in the area of specialization in accordance with the syllabus;
• Setting and marking examinations/assignments;
• Moderating examinations;
• Supervising trainees’ projects and practical work;
• Carrying out research work on area of specialisation;
• Implementing guidelines for students with special needs;
• Preparing students progress reports;
• Conducting student academic mentorship programmes;
• Ensuring maintenance and updating of class registers; and
• Developing and implementing new methods of instruction.

Person Specifications

• For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -
• Served for a cumulative period of nine 9 years relevant work experience three 3 of which must have been in the grade of Senior Lecturer or in a comparable position;
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant lecturing field in any of the following disciplines: Water / Civil/ Irrigation Engineering or its equivalent qualification from a recognised University;
• Certificate in Training of Trainers TOT course lasting not less than six 6 months in a recognised Institutions;
• Membership to a relevant professional body and in good standing where applicable;
• Management course lasting not less than four 4 weeks from a recognised Institution;
• Proficiency in computer applications; and
• Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and result.
