Entry Requirements:
An officer at this level shall report to a Senior Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinate and participate in the formulation of the drafting policies in relation to conservancy, projects and specialized forest functional units.
- Coordinate and participate in the development of national policies/ regulations in line with the Kenya Forest Service mandate.
- Lead in interpreting, reviewing and ensuring implementation of existing policies relating to forestry.
- Ensure implementation of relevant polices of the Service to support forestry development.
- Guide and participate in assessing the outputs, outcomes and impacts of policy implementation and programs.
- Identify and propose matters which require policy consideration by the Service.
- Provide feedback and updates on policy outcomes and impact to inform relevant interventions at the program level.
- Contribute to KFS strategic planning process to achieve the organization’s mandate.
- Coordinate and participate in forecasting forest resource changes, predictions and growth to inform policy.
- Promote good forest governance and mainstream relevant government policies on gender, youth and vulnerable groups in forest development programs.
- Guide in the management of Forest Conservancy Area/Specialized Forest field/Project.
- Supervise the implementation of the provision of the Forest legislation and any other relevant laws and regulations.
- Coordinate forest security, protection and intelligence gathering.
- Ensure the implementation of forestry development programs and activities.
- Guide and participate in carrying out planning and evaluation of programs and projects.
- Act as the secretary to Forest Conservation Committees/Project Steering Committees.
- Organize development strategies to link Kenya Forest Service with other stakeholders.
- Support forestry development outside gazetted forest areas for regulation, control and movement of forest products and provision of services.
- Support County Governments through capacity building to facilitate implementation of devolved forestry functions.

Additional Information:
Person Specifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Forestry studies
- Master’s Degree in the Relevant field
- Professional qualification
- Registration and membership to professional body where applicable
- Management course lasting not less four 4 weeks.
- At least eight 8 years’ relevant work experience
- At least three 3 Years’ experience in a management role
- Proficiency in Computer Application
