Entry Requirements:

An officer at this level shall report to Senior Deputy Chief Conservator of Forests Strategy, Partnership and Resource Mobilization

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Marketing and branding of the Service' products and services
  • Ensuring implementation of effective customer service mechanisms that are responsive to customer expectations
  • Analyze sales/revenue reports and advise on necessary marketing changes
  • Explore and develop potential commercial business opportunities available to the Service
  • Determine appropriate pricing and marketing strategies that can optimize benefits for the Service
  • Proactively originate new business activities through engaging existing and new clients.
  • Proactively develop customer centric strategies for KFS’s new and potential clients based on their identified or projected needs.
  • Review reports on competitors’ offerings to understand each target markets, identify gaps or opportunities and develop strategies to address emerging issues.
  • Present regular reports on KFS forestry business status
  • Ensure optimization of revenue generated from licenses and agreements
  • Oversee activities for domestic, regional and international tourism markets
  • Participate in tourism fairs
  • Oversee establishment of linkages with tourism stakeholders
  • Implement policies related to licenses and wayleaves
  • Develop and review strategies related to ecotourism marketing
  • Coordinate local and foreign investment in ecotourism
  • Lead the introduction and rollout of new products / solutions to existing and new clients
  • Develop and communicate a unique value proposition to identified clients.
  • Initiate the identification of market niches based on KFS’s competitive advantage
  • Undertake Feasibility studies, and develop business plans for potential customers.
  • Review stalled and ailing projects and advice the KFS on how to rehabilitate them.
  • Enhancement of business plans for KFS’s prospective clients.
  • Developing turnaround plans for distressed clients applying for finance from the corporation.
  • Offer client readiness support to bring a funding application to a bankable stage.
  • Undertake business diagnosis to identify gaps and opportunities in governance, strategy and management of the business.

Additional Information:

Person Specification

  • Bachelor's Degree in any of the following fields: Business, Finance, Commerce, Economics, Marketing or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution;
  • Master’s degree in relevant field from recognized field.
  • At least ten 10 years relevant work experience three 3 of which should have been at a management level
  • Management Course lasting not less than four 4 weeks from a recognized institution;
  • Professional qualifications and membership to Chartered Institute of Marketers CIM or equivalent
  • Proficiency in computer applications; and
