Detailed Description        
This is the entry and training grade for Degree holders in this cadre. Duties and responsibilities in this position shall entail assisting in: -

  • Overseeing and managing litigation portfolio including preparing legal documents, filling court pleadings and coordinating with external counsel,
  • Preparing and maintaining requisite reports to Board and management,
  • Compiling relevant evidence and other information on cases,
  • Work closely with other Departments to align litigation strategies with organizational goals and governance standards,
  • Developing and implementing strategies to minimize legal and financial risks, including proactive measures on how to avoid litigation,
  • Representing the Authority in Courts, Tribunals and other quasi-judicial bodies,
  • Drafting responses to legal queries, general correspondence and pleadings,
  • Compiling relevant evidence and other information on cases,
  • Undertaking legal research to inform legal opinions, training and compliance guidelines issued by the department,
  • Representing the Authority and Kenya in International Forums aimed at presenting the position of Kenya in ICT sector and policy formulations,
  • Identifying , assessing and resolving legal disputes arising from regulatory decisions , contracts or stakeholder interactions ensuring timely and effective outcomes,
  • Provision of internal legal guidance to departments on potential litigation risks and strategies to mitigate them,  supporting informed decision making,
  • Development of the departmental budget.

Job Requirements        

For appointment to this grade a candidate must have: -

  •  Bachelor of Laws Degree from a recognized institution,
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law,
  • Registration as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya,
  • Be a member of the Law Society of Kenya or any other relevant professional body in good standing,
  • Valid Practicing Certificate,
  • Proficiency in Computers Applications,
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the constitution of Kenya 2010.
