Position Description

We are seeking a motivated Junior Recruitment Specialist to join our team and support our talent acquisition and project monitoring efforts.
  • The Junior Recruitment & Project Support Officer will play a key role in sourcing, screening, and recruiting top talent for consultant and technical positions. The ideal candidate will have at least one year of recruitment experience, with a focus on consultants and technical roles. Candidates with experience in the development sector and project management skills are highly preferred. This role also involves supporting the day-to-day monitoring of projects, offering an opportunity to grow into a multifaceted role within our organization. This position is ideal for an early-career professional seeking to grow within the development consulting sector.

Role and Responsibilities

Recruitment and Talent Acquisition

  • Coordinate with hiring managers to understand role-specific needs and develop targeted recruitment strategies.
  • Assist in drafting and posting job advertisements and consultancy terms of reference ToRs.
  • Source and attract candidates for consultant and technical positions using job boards, social media, networking, and other recruitment platforms.
  • Screen resumes, conduct initial interviews, and assess candidate qualifications to ensure alignment with job requirements.
  • Conduct CV reviews and shortlist candidates based on job requirements.
  • Schedule and coordinate interviews with candidates and evaluation panels
  • Assist with candidate reference checks and documentation
  • Maintain a pipeline of qualified candidates for current and future hiring needs.

Project Support and Monitoring

  • Assist in the day-to-day monitoring of projects, including tracking progress, updating project documentation, and communicating with team members.
  • Support project managers in organizing meetings, preparing reports, and ensuring timely completion of deliverables.
  • Support day-to-day coordination of project activities and deliverables
  • Contribute to the improvement of project management processes and tools.

Administrative and Operational Support:

  • Manage recruitment-related documentation, including job postings, candidate records, and offer letters.
  • Support onboarding processes to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
  • Maintain accurate records in the applicant tracking system ATS and other HR tools.
  • Support procurement processes where needed e.g., for training materials, venues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Project Management, Development Studies or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in recruitment, with a focus on sourcing and placing consultants and/or technical professionals.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with candidates, hiring managers, and project teams.
  • Basic project management skills, with the ability to support monitoring and coordination of projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Word, Excel, PowerPoint and familiarity with applicant tracking systems ATS or HR software.
  • Experience in the development sector, particularly in recruiting for roles related to international development, NGOs, or social impact projects.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies e.g., Agile, Scrum, or PMP principles.
  • Familiarity with recruitment platforms such as LinkedIn Recruiter, Indeed, or Workable.
  • Exposure to monitoring and evaluating project outcomes in a professional setting.
  • A valid practicing certificate issued by the Institute of Human Resource Management is an added advantage.
