Purpose of the Job

The position is responsible for supporting all the investment activities for the Scheme.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities are:

  • Provide support in monitoring the operations of the DB and DC Schemes investment portfolios with a focus on maximizing returns at minimal risks
  • Reporting on the monitoring of targeted Schemes investment strategies documented through the Investment Policy Statement and which are in line with respective DB and DC Schemes 10-year Strategy
  • Assessment of asset allocations and ensuring appropriate portfolio re-balancing by the investment managers
  • Providing key support in identification, appraisal, structuring and negotiation of alternative and offshore investments
  • Participate in analyzing investments portfolios valuation, performance and risk metrics
  • Participate in recommending the hiring of top-decile-performing investment managers
  • Participate in investment reporting & ensuring investments compliance
  • Monitoring custodial account cash balances to ensure timely investment, accurate collection of income from financial instruments, optimal cash flow projections withdrawals for operational use & receipt of contributions and cash movement reconciliation between fund managers and custodian records
  • Tracking existing financial assets performance to provide insight on performance issues/recommend for divestment sale where necessary
  • Conducting assets valuation and ensure reconciliation with fund managers reports
  • Identifying and regularly conducting the Scheme’s investment SWOT analysis
  • Preparing reports for monthly management strategy meetings;

Knowledge and Skills Required:

The job holder must possess;

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or a related field
  • Must have completed CIFA and registered with ICIFA, or CFA or CISI or CPA K or ACCA
  • Membership to relevant professional bodies in good standing
  • A minimum of five 5 years’ working experience in the assessment of investment opportunities, investment management , analyzing investments portfolios valuation, performance and risk.
  • Substantial experience in identifying, analysing, negotiating, structuring investment portfolios
  • Substantial knowledge of investment of pension funds as well as global trends and developments for similar investments
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent report writing and strong analytical skills, financial modelling skills, and presentation skills
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
