The Role
As a Finance Associate, you will assist with day-to-day accounting and finance activities, ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, maintaining financial records, and supporting the finance team in financial reporting and analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process invoices, purchase orders, expense reports, and other financial documents for approval and payment.
- Verify and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, resolving discrepancies and ensuring accuracy.
- Prepare KRA, PAYE & VAT returns in compliance with relevant tax laws;
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.
- Receive, inspect, and store incoming goods, maintain accurate records of inventory levels/stock movements and conducting regular stock counts and audits.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ledgers, and files, organizing documents and data for easy retrieval and reference.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as purchasing, sales, and operations, to gather financial information and resolve accounting-related issues.
- Respond to inquiries from colleagues, vendors, and customers regarding financial transactions, account balances, and payment status.
- Support the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures.
- Stay updated on accounting principles, regulations, and best practices, and apply them to ensure compliance and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Perform other administrative tasks and special projects assigned by the finance manager or supervisor to support departmental goals and objectives.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- 3 to 4 years of experience in Accounting, bookkeeping, or finance roles
- Bachelor’s degree qualification in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- CPA certification is a plus.
- Proficiency in ERP systems ODOO, Excel, and banking platforms.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, record-keeping, and financial calculations.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to identify issues, research solutions, and propose recommendations.
- Knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards, such as GAAP or IFRS.
- Commitment to integrity, confidentiality, and ethical behavior in handling financial information and transactions.
