- To ensure accurate, compliant, and timely customs declaration and clearance of petroleum products, lubricants, and related equipment, facilitating seamless import/export operations while aligning with regulatory requirements within the oil and gas industry.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and review instructions regarding customs declarations and documentation for petroleum products and related imports/exports from clients and internal teams.
- Ensure effective consultation and coordination between clients, company teams, clearing agents, and customs authorities.
- Professionally prepare and execute customs declarations to avoid punitive measures, demurrage, and operational delays.
- Verify and confirm shipment documentation against customs and company requirements.
- Undertake accurate and timely customs declarations for inbound and outbound oil and gas products.
- Input shipping and product data for generation of customs entry declarations for all shipments.
- Ensure the smooth flow of freight documentation for bulk fuel, lubricants, and related cargo.
- Resolve declaration and clearance issues with customs authorities promptly.
- Monitor, interpret, and implement changes in customs regulations affecting the oil and gas industry while advising management of compliance requirements.
- Eliminate delays and avoid customs offenses by declaring accurate HS codes, correct tariffs, and ensuring documentation compliance.
- Prepare and submit regular customs status reports to management.
- Carry out any other duties related to customs operations as may be assigned.
Job Requirements
Qualifications & Competencies:
- Diploma or Degree in Clearing & Forwarding, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in customs documentation and clearance, preferably within the oil and gas or FMCG industries.
- Advanced knowledge of ICMS, Kentrade, Asycuda, and related customs clearance systems.
- Sound knowledge of tariffs, HS codes, trade agreements, and oil and gas import/export compliance requirements.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle high-volume documentation accurately and efficiently.
- Understanding of air and sea freight clearance processes, with specific knowledge of petroleum product clearance.
- Excellent communication skills for effective liaison with customs officials, agents, and internal teams.
- Ability to work under pressure and within tight timelines in a dynamic operational environment.
