Our client in the Manufacturing industry is seeking to hire a credit controller to accurately maintain the company’s debtors’ position by ensuring outstanding debts are managed in a timely and efficient method and ensuring the financial position of the company is realistically maintained in a positive manner.
Manage the debtors’ team so as to make sure they perform at an optimal level, managing challenges as they occur yet still nurturing a culture of oneness within the team, in addition to liaising with colleagues so as to work in unity for the benefit for the organization.

Main duties and responsibilities:
- Be the debtors lead for the entire organization, driving the strategy and its processes, engaging with relevant peers, subordinates, customers and department heads to ensure that the overall debtor objectives are met.
- Review the debtors’ status through the comparison of client records against system statements, ensuring debt status is always accurate
- Oversee the issuance of debtors’ statements by the 5th of each month and that payment follow-ups are made within stipulated timelines and as per the agreed payment terms
- Circulate debtors forecast and collection report to the Head of Finance, Consumer Sales and the company Professional heads of departments, all debtors’ accountants and the directors by end of week to assist in debt status analysis and collection planning.
- Conduct two monthly debtors meetings jointly with the sales representatives, the company Professional consultants, sales heads of department and the Head of Finance, with a purpose of discussing debt collection delays and strategizing on how the methods
- Prepare debtors days report for the purpose of analyzing debtor days’ trend and sharing with relevant sales and accounts team for the purpose of their action.
- Ensure the debtors’ monthly gap analysis is prepared, in order to analyze number of customers who have defaulted in payments per sales representative and engage them to determine methods to bridge the gap.
- Compiling and circulating cash sales reports on a weekly basis to the Directors, Head of Finance and Customer Care Team leader, in order to analyze defaulted payments and evaluate value of cash sales per week.
- Conduct follow up on key account debts with Heads of Consumer Sales, in order to monitor outstanding debts and reconciliations
- Build strong relationships with clients for the benefit of improved debt collection.
- Review debtors team goal sheets on time and as required, ensuring review actions are followed up on and that staff performance is properly managed, in line with company policy
- Work with the sales teams and other departments to achieve the overall company debtor’s strategy, implementing change as and when required to improve efficiencies
- Take the lead on value improvement initiatives including interface with functional units such as Key Accounts, General Sales, Supply Chain, Production and Marketing.
- Conduct monthly performance review of your direct reports. Follow up on agreed actions to ensure full execution within set timelines.
- Proactively identify and analyze problems: weigh relevance and accuracy of information; generate and evaluate alternative solutions; make recommendations. Consult the Finance Manager for further guidance when policy decisions are to be made.
- Maintain the strictest level of confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with information concerning the company including company performance, pricing policies, marketing plans, new products development, salaries, and any other information.
- Perform other duties as allocated.
Key Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree (or higher) in Accounting or related field.
- CPA-K qualification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Credit Controller.
- Prior experience managing credit for major supermarkets such as Naivas, Carrefour, Quickmart etc, as well as tier 2 supermarkets.
- Strong time management skills and self-motivation skills.
- Able to meet strict deadlines under minimal supervision.
- Proven experience managing a team.
