Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise all actions required for the effective implementation of the MIKE programme by:
  • developing, implementing, and evaluating programme activities and projects, including the monitoring and analysis of challenges and proposing and applying corrective actions.
  • Coordinate activities related to budget administration and finances (programme/project preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements); prepare related documents and reports (work programme, programme budget); and monitor allocations and expenditures;
  • Responsible for managing human resources related to MIKE Programme staff, project personnel, and consultants. This includes overseeing and coordinating the recruitment of staff and experts, providing necessary support to experts as required, and ensuring the timely and satisfactory delivery of services and outputs.
  • Oversee the compilation, management, and analysis of MIKE data and present results and recommendations to the participating national governments, decision-makers, relevant CITES bodies, and other stakeholders;
  • Identify suitable partner organizations, including training institutions, and establish and manage partnerships to support the effective implementation of the MIKE Programme.

Education

  • Advanced University degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in natural resource management, business administration, project management, or a related area is required.
  • A first-level university degree, in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying work experience, may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Successful completion of both degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics or data science programs is desirable.

Work Experience

  • A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional experience in programme/ Project management is required.
  • At least five (5) years of work experience in regional and international organizations, preferably in developing countries within the UN system or similar organizations is required.
  • Experience with relevant institutions, mandates, policies and guidelines within the UN system or similar organization is desirable.
  • Experience with biodiversity-related issues, particularly with the work of the biodiversity-related Multilateral Environmental Agreements, is desirable.
  • Two (2) years or more of experience in data analytics or related area is desirable.
