Business Development Executive Job

Our client, a growing EdTech company delivering learning devices such as tablets and smart screens for young learners and families, is seeking a Business Development Executive to help accelerate market growth and build long-term revenue-generating partnerships.
This role requires a driven and strategic individual with excellent relationship-building skills and a deep understanding of Kenya’s business, retail, and education landscapes. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, closing high-impact deals, and contributing to the overall sales strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Market Development & Opportunity Mapping

  • Identify and prioritize high-potential B2B and institutional market segments (schools, NGOs, retail chains, county governments).
  • Research and analyze market trends to uncover emerging opportunities and areas for expansion.
  • Build and maintain a robust opportunity pipeline through strategic outreach and targeted networking.

Partner & Client Acquisition

  • Approach, pitch, and close deals with new clients, distributors, and business partners.
  • Develop tailored proposals and solutions that align with client needs and the company's offerings.
  • Drive end-to-end relationship management—from lead generation to post-sales engagement.

Revenue Growth & Strategic Initiatives

  • Work with cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, product) to align business development strategies with overall growth goals.
  • Propose scalable business models and expansion strategies.
  • Lead pilot projects or partnership experiments to validate new ideas.

Reporting & Pipeline Management

  • Track performance metrics including leads generated, deals closed, and revenue impact.
  • Use CRM and digital tools to manage contacts, deals, and activities.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly updates for senior leadership, highlighting wins, challenges, and opportunities.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in business development, sales, or B2B partnerships.
  • Strong track record in closing deals and driving growth in fast-paced environments.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Clear strategic thinker with the ability to prioritize and act decisively.
  • Comfortable using CRM software, data dashboards, and productivity tools (e.g., Odoo, HubSpot, Trello).
  • Familiarity with the education, retail, or NGO sectors in Kenya is a strong advantage.
  • Experience developing and executing B2B outreach strategies.
  • Able to propose business models and frameworks that support long-term revenue growth.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and entrepreneurial mindset.

Bonus Skills (Preferred but Not Required)

  • Experience in a startup or scale-up environment.
  • Exposure to product development or customer success functions.
  • Understanding of edtech, consumer electronics, or tech-driven distribution models.
