Job Requirement
- Bachelor Degree in the following disciplines; Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Planning or Town planning or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution
 - Have served in the grade of Principal Planner OR its equivalent for minimum period of three 3 years
 - Or have worked in the Urban Planning Sector/Department in a senior position for a period of not less than 10 years.
 - Membership to Kenya Institute of Planners or Architectural Association of Kenya; Registration with Physical Planners Registration Board,
 - Have a certificate in Senior Management Course from Kenya School of Government
 - Certificate in Computer Application from a recognized Institution in Kenya;
 - Demonstrated a thorough understanding for national goals, policies, objectives and the ability to relate them to the physical planning function
 - Have demonstrated administrative ability, integrity as required in the work performance and results.
 
Job Description
- Assist the Director and Deputy Director in overseeing and managing urban planning management and implementation activities
 - Coordinate specific urban development projects under the guidance of senior management including organizing project teams, tracking progress and ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets
 - Supporting implementation of urban planning policies, strategies and guidelines by facilitating their application in development projects and initiatives
 - Reviewing development proposals, permits, and applications to ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards and zoning requirements
 - Engaging with stakeholders, Community groups, and the public to gather input, address concerns, and foster collaboration in urban planning and development processes.
 - Analyze demographic, economic and spatial data to inform urban planning decisions, identify trends and assess the impact of development activities
 - Provide training, guidance, and support to staff involved in urban planning development activities to enhance their skills, knowledge and capabilities
 - Collaborating with other government agencies Sectors/Department and stakeholders to coordinate urban development activities and ensure coherence across different sectors
 - Assist in preparation of reports, presentations and documentation related to urban planning and development activities for senior management and stakeholders
 - Assist in budget planning, resource allocation and expenditure monitoring for urban planning and development projects and initiatives
 - Any other duties as may be assigned to him/her by the Deputy Director or Director
